Pay per click advertising and the benefits for brand new websites

If you have a new website, one of the most frustrating and time consuming things can be getting people to know about it. Sure, you can print off business cards, take out an ad in the local paper, or even distribute leaflets or fly post. However the biggest way to drive new traffic to your website is through online advertising. Think about it, how many people nowadays pick up the Yellow Pages?
Unfortunately, appearing on top of the list on a search engine is difficult enough even for established companies, and the hard fact of the matter is that it's even harder - if not almost impossible - for brand new websites to get up there straight away, too. Search engines are constantly receiving data about websites, new and old, then categorising that data in order of importance and serving it up on a search engine results page (SERP). These SERP's have a list of 10 websites which are ranked there through the search engine's choice, usually over time, and because they conform to the search engine's secret algorithms. However, there is another way of quickly getting onto these all important pages, AND getting on top of these top ten results, too. Almost all SERPs will display "Sponsored Results" at the top and to the right of the normal results (often labelled "organic" results) on the same page. These websites pay a small fee to the search engine for each time an internet user clicks on their advertisement and is taken to their website. This is known as Pay Per Click advertising. So why is Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising for me?
There are various benefits of PPC advertising. The first and most important is that it's amazingly quick to get up and running. All the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN, etc. enable you to set up a free PPC account with them and you can then decide on the budget for spending for that month. You also have the freedom to pause any campaigns you create, and can create as many different campaigns as you like, targeting the various aspects of your business. This brings you immediate traffic to your site, of visitors searching for your product or a similar product, which can result in a potential sale.
Another immediate benefit apart from the immediate traffic you can bring is that you are creating Branding for your website. If your site has a snappy title or an easy to remember website address, then your potential customers will notice this and also pick up on the name, perhaps remembering it for a second time. Your advert is also completely up to date, because it is seen on the same day that you create it.
You can also edit/change your ad to see the best performing combination unlike a magazine ad, for example which often has to be taken out for 12 editions, for example, and is a standard print from the beginning to end.
The benefits of correctly setting up a Pay Per Click campaign can save you hours of man hours, and unnecessary budget spending without seeing the immediate results. Any new business should seriously consider looking at this option to drive more traffic to a new website.
